Deskhand runs on your machine. No design data leaves it. This page says what does leave, and why.
What stays on your machine
The Deskhand server and the Figma plugin both run on your computer and talk to each other over localhost. Your files, components, styles, variables, screenshots and everything Claude reads or writes stay between Figma and the server on your machine. Deskhand has no relay and no cloud, so there is nothing for your design data to pass through.
Claude does the thinking through Claude Code or Claude Desktop on the Claude subscription you already have. What those apps send to Anthropic is covered by Anthropic's own privacy terms, not Deskhand's.
What leaves, and where it goes
- Licence check. The server contacts Polar, the payment and licensing provider, to check your licence key. It sends the key and a machine identifier so Polar can count activations (up to 3 places per key). The result is cached so Deskhand works for 7 days without a connection, warns after day 7, and stops at 30 days.
- Update check. The plugin asks the npm registry whether a newer version of Deskhand exists. That request carries the version you are running and nothing else.
- Checkout. When you subscribe, Polar handles the payment and your receipt. Deskhand never sees your card details.
